top of the world, ma!
December 31, 2005
The updates just keep coming....and this one is a long time in coming. I've a Web Developer by trade and I had yet to showcase any of my designs on this site. Well all that has changed. I'm slowly adding in the work that I've done in the past. I will also be adding logo designs and such from various projects as well.

December 30, 2005
I've added 2 new paintings to the traditional gallery. It's been a long time since I have done oil paintings and it feels really good to do so. I found that after doing a very large digital series that I had locked myself in the proverbial box that I'm suppose to think outside of. At any rate, this painting series has evolved into a series of 4 paintings...it was not my intention to get back into doing series, but that's how the creative process works I guess.

The final two images should be up sometime soon...not sure when it's it's almost New Years. :-]

May your holidays bring you joy and happiness. Enjoy this season with friends and family and be of good cheer.

Sorry for the lateness of the season greetings...but you know how it is with this time of year :-]

Anyway, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzah, A Great Festivus, and whatever else you want to celebrate this year.

With that all said, have a Happy and Safe New Year!

November 29, 2005
Added a new piece this weekend in the digital area. Something fresh and different than Alphabet Soup. I've been doing more traditional work...moslty working in oils. I'll be putting them up in a few days or so...depending on the dry time.

I'm trying some new things with my oil paintings. I've finally got a space where I can work on them and I'm doing some new things...things that I've not done before. Basically, I'm trying to get out of my own artistic rut/comfort zone.

November 05, 2005
It is done!

I have finished the Alphabet Soup series and I feel good.

Time to move on to other things...

**************************************

November 02, 2005
October was a busy month for art and November seems to be starting off just great. The 2nd day of the month and what does it bring, but the letter "I". One more letter to go...the letter "Z". I have something special for that one. :-]

I can see the finish line! Alphabet soup is nearing completion!

**************************************

October 23, 2005
Winding down.

I'm almost done with Alphabet soup. The letter "I" has been sketched and is waiting to be scanned and manipulated.

The letter "Z" is kinda in the works...still wondering on how to execute it. I have a concept, but the image still eludes me.

The Redo of the letter "X" is almost complete. I did a lot of work in illustrator and will eventually bring it into Photoshop for it's completion.

I see the end in sight. I didn't realize what a monumental task this series has become. Part of me is sad that it is nearing completion, but a bigger part of me is glad that I'm finally done and that I can move on to other things.

**************************************

October 23, 2005
Ok...I redid the letter X today...man...lots of art today :-]

**************************************

October 20, 2005
Well..I've been hammering away at the Alphabet Soup series. It's really winding down fast and I'm excited about it. I only have 3 more letters to do and I'm going to redo the letter 'X'. I'm not happy with it...it doesn't quite fit with the rest of series. So the latest additions have been 'W', 'J', and 'K'.

**************************************

October 09, 2005
The art additions keep coming!

I've added the letter's "G" and "L" to the Alphabet Soup Series...I'm getting close to being done with it. *breathes a sigh of relief* It's a great series and a challenging one at that, but I'm ready for it to be done.

**************************************

October 08, 2005
Yay! I've added some new art. It's in the traditional gallery...It feels really good to do some painting again.

**************************************

September 21, 2005
No new art, just yet. I've been spending some quality time optimizing this site so that it can be viewed on the Sony PSP. So for those of you that have that handheld system you can now view this site in all it's optimized glory.

**************************************

September 13, 2005
I've added some more robots to the Pixel Revolution section. Plus, there is now a link in the art gallery to them. Much better than the hidden easter egg link I had for a while :-]

August 14, 2005

August 10, 2005
Sorry for the downtime folks. The server the site was sitting on was being flakey, so we moved the site over to a different machine.

Thanks for your patience.

July 08, 2005
Ok...the easter egg idea was pretty nifty...but I've been working a lot on that area recently...well mostly in my spare time (such as it is). And I've decided that since only a few people even come to this site, what's the point of hiding all the work that I've done. So I decided to open it up for all 3 visitors to the see and enjoy.

So, here's the link to the cogwurx Easter Egg: PixelRevolution. Eventually I'll give it more prominence in the galleries. I'll also be adding more stuff to it soon. I have four more pieces to add to it.

**************************************

June 23, 2005
Added an Easter Egg to the site. It's a hidden gallery. It's still a work in progress. I have a lot more to do, but little time to do it in.

How do you get to the easter egg? Well here's a hint, the link is on every page you just have to find it. It's pretty easy.

Why do you have an easter egg link on your site? I don't have to explain my art to you :-]

May 30, 2005
I got something special in the works for this site. So keep an eye out :-]

May 26, 2005
Welcome to the new look of cogwurx. I'm really happy with this design. Though I really loved the previous design, my work has been such that I needed a more managable gallery to display them. Hence, the redesign. I hope that the 2 of you that visit this site enjoy the new look and feel.

**************************************

May 24, 2005
In the wurx.

I'm in process of updating the look of this site...so images that were once up will "disappear" for a little bit as I make the transition to the new design. It should be up in a few days/minutes/moments.

**************************************

May 15, 2005
I've added a new version of the Letter "M" for the Alphabet soup series. I'm really not happy with "M is for Mole". I felt that it was my weakest in the series and so I decided to replace it with a Monkey. :-]

Check it out in the usual sections.

I also fixed some minor issues with the image displays and I will eventually continue fixing things by redesigning this site. So keep an eye out for it in the next couple of months...

**************************************

April 24, 2005
I've added the letter "F" to the usual galleries where I have my Alphabet Soup series spread out (digital and desktop). I have a lot of art work in the que right now. I'm working on then next letter, which will be the letter "E", as well as another propaganda poster. I'm almost done with that...there are a few things that I still need to fix on it before I post it.

I'm also working on a collab with a fellow artist on deviantArt. It's slow going on that as we both have a busy schedules. OY! Speaking of busy schedules...I'm also thinking of revamping this site...though not sure about that just yet, but it's looming on the horizon.

**************************************

March 18, 2005
I've added more artistic goodies today. Added the letter 'O' for the Alphabet Soup Series in the digital and desktop galleries. I've also added a new digital piece to the digital area...after a long hiatus, I finally did a piece using the cogwurx mascot, Nano. I love using him in constructivist type Soviet era propoganda poster art.

Enjoy.

By the way, It's been a wonderful week being engaged! I love you, Jenn!

**************************************

March 11, 2005
Today is a wonderful day. I have asked my girlfriend, Jennifer, to marry me and she said YES! I am officially engaged.

Here is what happened:

It all started in January, around the time of our one year anniversary of dating. Her dad came over one day to install a new garbage disposal unit in my kitchen sink. We spent a few hours together and when every was completed I asked him for permission to marry his daughter. To say he was shocked is an understatement, but once he composed himself he gave me permission. Once I had that, I began prepping for how I was going to do it.

One idea stuck out to me the most but I was struggling with the logistics of it all so I tried alternative ideas for how I was going to propose to, Jenn. I explained my idea to another friend and told her about my reservations about the way I was going to propose, but she reassured me that how I was going to propose was so me and that I should proceed with my plan.

My plan was simple..make a piece of art and somehow hang it in a gallery. So I started looking around for gallery space and contacted a friend of mine that is a director of an art gallery and asked for a huge favor...to allow me to hang a piece of artwork that was part of a proposal. I got her approval, I had gallery space for one image.

So I got to work on making the image for the day. I got it to the point where I needed another persons opinion on it...the one person whose opinion mattered, Jenn's. That's right she saw the image that I was going to use to ask her, but it had different wording and imagery on it. She like the layout and the image...unbeknownst to her. Well that evening, when she left I returned to the computer and finished the "real" image and sent it to get print.

Now the wait, till today March 11th. It was about a 3 week wait for the opening of the group show that I had my image in. So in the mean time I got things ready...like the ring and framing the artwork and letting Jenn know about the group art show that we would be attending.

March 11, the day of the opening...I pick Jenn up at her home and drive to the gallery. All the while, nervous as all get out, but I hid it well. We walked around a bit at the gallery and led her to where the art was hung. As we rounded the corner she looked at the wall were my art was and she looked at me and said, "That looks like your style". I said, "Yeah, look familiar?".

We got closer as she read the words, "Will you marry me?", she was awestruck, and turned around only to find me on one knee holding the ring out. She was blurting out..."Your picture is asking me to marry...your asking me to marry you??"

I asked, "Will you marry me?" at which she responded, "You are really asking me this...".

"Yes, Jenn, Will you marry me...." then she hugs me and says that she will. :-]

It took her a few minutes to stop jumping up and down with joy so that I could actually put the ring on her finger. :-]

We walked around the gallery are few minutes more...not really looking at artwork. :-]

There are a lot more details, but you get the gist of it.

Check it out in the digital gallery!

The fist new piece of artwork of 2005 has been added to the digital gallery. It's an experiment/work in progress if you will. It's a direction that I may be going toward, though I'm not sure.

I hope all y'all have a fun and happy New Year!
