My youngest daughter LOVES bugs and her favorite is the cicada. Naturally, I had to have a cicada in my Save the Animals designs. It took me awhile to come up with the right "funny name" for the cicada that made sense and was recognizable.

A couple years ago coworker of mine mentioned "fuel units" over lunch on day and that inspired the concept of creating a currency based on the caffeine content of different coffee drinks. I was only able to create 2 currencies at the time, then the world took a dump. I finally returned to this concept just recently. I hope to add more from time to time as the inspiration hits.

My wife and I were wanting funny animal name t-shirts for an upcoming family vacation. The designs that we saw online were okay but we wanted something a little different. This is certainly different than what I normally do. This was a side project for a design team that I was on with a former employer. This was 2 years in the making with various starts and stops during the pandemic. I used this as an exercise in learning Affinity Designer. The quote comes from one of my old teammates.

A logo for a side project that never materialized. This was to be a subsidiary of amaz, another side project that went nowhere.

I've been working on this thing for months! Months I say! The amount of revisions was extensive as it has been a while since I've challenged myself with some graphic design. On top of that it's a bit of a stretch to my usual design style that is not Art Deco inspired. So There was a lot to overcome with the theme, style, and message.

Anyway, I've always wanted to wear one of my t-shirt designs, but I've always felt a little self-conscious doing so. However, this time I set out to create something that I wanted to wear on said t-shirt. Which is why this design took me forever. How long...I started the first draft in mid-October 2016, yup, 6 months ago.

The magical animal that can turn anything into Bacon!

So had a little fun making this retro swine image for the love of Bacon. I got the idea from another one of my other sticker designs "Delicious Meat". I may follow up with some other stickers/designs in this vein. I don't know yet, I don't want to force it.

So I've gotten a bit carried away lately with some design work....not that that is a bad thing. I promise I am working on some traditional abstract work.

I've had this badge/logo in my head for quite sometime and never actually good execute the design to my liking up until now. The inspiration behind this was the Tori Amos song "Happy Workers" from the movie Toys. I had a bit of time lately while my latest painting was drying so I took to fleshing out this design a bit. An old friend of mine from college runs a family farm and was looking to have a logo.

This started out as a joke amongst our card playing lunch crew at the office. There was one co-worker that is always a stickler for the rules of the game so we decided to make a t-shirt for him.

I really like this lettering design. I initially wanted it as a t-shirt, but the more that I looked at it the more I thought the design would look great on a deck, so there it went.

Always loved this quote from Labyrinth. I left a few lines/words out from it just to serve the purpose of an empowerment quote. Recently a few of my friends have been going through a lot physical and emotional challenges and every time I see their strength and vulnerability shine forth I think of this quote. Mostly I am reminded of "You have no power over me". It is to them I dedicate this.

I really dug this design so I put this on a deck for all to enjoy!

Found an old photo of my granddad (left) and an army buddy, and decided to make up a visual story and here is the result. Hope you like.

I used some war photos off the internet and a lot of asunder's brushes (asunder.deviantart.com).

I don't know if this is going to end up as a series or not. This started out as a wallpaper, but it grew as I was doing more research. The more images I found and the more information that I read, the more I got angry at the injustices that the Native Americans were dealt in the past and present.

Anyway, I don't profess to know a whole lot about Native Americans or their history and struggles. All I know is that they got hosed.
